The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is the most Beastly Wrangler

Off-road lovers are in luck, or at least those who live in the United States. The Jeep Wrangler launches another version of the incombustible 4x4, and it is also the most radical that the North American brand has ever manufactured: the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392.

The Rubicon 392 Concept was the prototype that advanced this new variant that we now have in our hands, and the truth is that it does not disappoint. The Wrangler Rubicon 392 is the most beastly Jeep Wrangler with an engine that finally stays at 470 HP.

It was clear. When Jeep presented a prototype Jeep Wrangler equipped with a V8 engine last summer, it was clear that the manufacturer was going to come up with a very high-performance off-road car. His intention was clear, after many rumors it was time to try to spoil the party for the new Ford Bronco and the commotion caused by the return of the 4x4 from the oval.

Said and done. Or well, surely they already had it done but it remained to be said. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 has just landed with a huge presence. Taking the traditional body of the Wrangler as a starting point, the Rubicon 392 launches a series of modifications that give it its own personality.

It stands out due to its height 5 cm higher than that of the traditional Rubicon, pulling a lift kit that is complemented by elements that are usually optional in the Wrangler range: hardtop and wheel arches in body color, steel bumpers or Jeep Wrangler led headlights. for the outside. You can choose in nine body colors.

Inside, it also adopts a complete equipment package with leather upholstery (interior always finished in black with bronze stitching), infotainment packages and electrical switches, climate control, keyless access and an advanced security package.

The bodywork becomes more muscular, highlighting the 40 mm raised bumper with a functional air intake released on the Jeep Gladiator Mojave and a redesigned grill to let more air through, necessary to better cool the huge engine of this edition.

It also stands out for including elements decorated in bronze color such as the 17-inch beadlock wheels or the towing eyes, in addition to some more contrasts distributed both outside and inside the Wrangler.

The mechanics that debuts the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is unprecedented in the range, and consists of a V-shaped eight-cylinder block with 6.4-liter displacement and naturally aspirated. What's more, it is a milestone in the model, since it recovers a V8 block after almost four decades of absence, from the CJ-7.

It is a propeller made of cast steel with aluminum cylinder heads, equipped with variable timing, sodium-filled exhaust valves and hollow stem intake, active intake manifold or oil spray on the pistons among some of its features. It also incorporates cylinder deactivation and an active exhaust with four-way valves.

The intake system has been redesigned to achieve a fording depth of 82.5 cm using tri-level ducts with drains. If the intake is blocked by snow or mud, this Wrangler is equipped with a secondary air intake built into the hood structure itself.

This engine is used in other models of the FCA Group but has received a specific tuning with which it develops more than generous 470 CV and 637 Nm of torque, even exceeding the power announced by the Rubicon 392 Concept (456 CV).

In practice, Jeep announces that the Wrangler Rubicon 392 can complete 0-96 km/h in 4.5 seconds, putting itself at the level of many sports cars. Now, what the brand also points out is that there is almost 75% of the engine torque available from idle, which is an outrage with which this SUV will be able to climb almost any obstacle.

This engine is associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and fully electronic TorqueFlite 8HP75 by torque converter that can work in fully automatic mode or be operated by means of the paddles that it incorporates on the steering wheel as a novelty within the Wrangler range. According to the brand, this new transmission uses intelligent electronics capable of reading the terrain and use to vary the pattern of gear changes on the fly.

The permanent integral transmission is carried out through a Selec-Trac two-speed active transfer case with reduction and four operating modes: 4WD Auto, 4WD High, Neutral and 4WD Low.

The electronics have also gained presence and include new Off-road Plus modes with Sand and Rock settings, which guarantee the level of traction on any terrain. These modes act on throttle response, gear changes and traction control, with the possibility of locking the rear axle at high speed.

The operation in Selec-Speed Control mode is something like an off-road cruise control, being able to regulate the speed in 4WD Low without having to touch the accelerator or the brake, just at the push of a button and for speeds between 1 and 8 km /h.

At the chassis level, the Jeer Wrangler Rubicon retains its fundamental structure of spars, although improved. Includes upper control arms on the front end and steering knuckles made of cast iron.
